MERSING, Aug 4 — The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar warned that he would withdraw from any individual, their Datukship conferred by his late father, if they fail to attend Hari Hol.
Hari Hol is a public holiday to mark Sultan Iskandar’s passing.
The sultan said the absence of some of the recipients on Hari Hol showed that they did not care about spending time in remembrance of his father and therefore were not interested in having the title.
Therefore, he said, it would be better if the title conferred on them be destroyed or returned respectfully, as in the manner they received it.
“If not, I will announce the name of the recipients whose title had been retracted, regardless of whether he is a minister, general or former general.
“Action will be taken against the recipients who fail to attend,” he said today at an event in conjunction with the 51st anniversary of the Special Forces Regiment at Iskandar Camp here.
Also present at the event were Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim; Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris; Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.
