Ex-Miss World contestant Dewi Liana’s second single album in the works

KUCHING, July 17 — Dewi Liana Seriestha, a Malaysian singer, model and beauty pageant title holder, is currently working on her second single album which she composed herself. 

The 26-year-old Dewi said she would be signing under Warner Music Malaysia soon.

“The single album is still without a title and will be released soon,” she told Bernama.

Her first single Hati Telah Dimiliki was released on Sept 4, 2015 and it was the theme song for a TV3 series Waris Kasih.   

Dewi, who became the first Malaysian to win the Miss World Talent title in the Miss World 2014 competition, said the gift that God has given her would not go to waste.

“I stand here as an inspiration to everyone that I can and will continue to fight through whatever obstacles that come down my way and hope to one day, be the proud voice of our future generations,” she said.

Born in Kuching, Sarawak to an Indonesian musician Yudhi Seriestha and Malaysian Bidayuh singer Catherine Noep, she won a national singing competition, Bintang Kecil RTM in 2000.

In 2005 she moved to Kuala Lumpur with her parents to pursue her career and made her national television debut in a singing  competition, Mentor, which was aired on TV3. She was only 16 besides being the youngest finalist of the show.

Dewi also ventured into acting and she acted in Malay dramas, Kembali, Nilai Cinta Diana and Patung Cinta for Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) from 2009-2010.

In 2010, she joined a Sarawakian-based beauty pageant, Miss Fair & Lovely World Harvest Festival, and finished as first runner-up besides clinching the subsidiary title for Miss Talent.

In 2014 she was chosen to represent Malaysia at the World Championships of Performing Arts and won the gold medal for classical opera, among others.

Another feather to her cap was when she was crowned as Miss World Malaysia 2014 in August of that year in Kuala Lumpur and represented Malaysia in Miss World 2014 in London.

Dewi won the Miss World Talent title and was named one of the top 25 quarter finalists.

In November 2015, Dewi received the Asia outstanding achievement award during the Asia Golden Dragon Awards 2015/2016 for her series of achievements during the WCOPA as well as the Miss World  2014. — Bernama
