KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 — A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck the Kuril Islands at 6.33 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement that the earthquake occurred about 563 kilometres north east of Asahikawa, Japan.
There was no threat of tsunami to Malaysia, it said. — Bernama
