SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 9 ― Both steampunk strategy They Are Billions and tense survival action game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds finished the holiday season sales period in good form, despite being surrounded by a clutch of New Year bargains in the PC download charts yesterday January 8, 2018.

With major PC digital download stores bringing their sales to an end, December 2016 release They Are Billions and March's established blockbuster PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds proved their own relative resilience.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future where technology is based on Victorian-era discoveries, They Are Billions has the player build and defend colonies against infected hordes.

Independent Spanish studio Numantian Games made its debut with the well-received retro role-playing adventure Lords of Xulima and this, its sophomore release, has been championed by YouTubers like SplatterCat and BaronVonLetsPlay (English-language), Rocket Beans TV (German), and Dan Field (French), with CohhCarnage and Admiral Bahroo (English), yapyap30 (Korean) and mobilmobil (Chinese) among those streaming the game on Twitch.

Another independent studio, Finland's No Brakes Games, saw the introduction of a multiplayer mode to its earlier physics-based dreamworld puzzle Human: Fall Flat at the end of October.

A half-price discount was dished out during the year-end sales, and here it charts highly on Steam after landing a top five spot on Humble the week before.

It's available for for Windows, Mac and Linux, and, currently, as a single-player experience on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
