KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 — With 2017 coming to a close, the next flagship to look forward to is the Samsung Galaxy S9. The processor powering the device was sort of announced and now we are getting more details thanks to serial leakster @evleaks.

According to Evan’s sources, the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ might be making an early preview appearance during CES 2018 which is happening on January 9-12, 2018 in Las Vegas. However, the full reveal is expected to take place at a separate event in March, similar to this year’s Galaxy S8/S8+.

Interestingly, the new model won’t be radically different from their current Galaxy S8 series. Unlike Apple, where they recycle the design on their “tock” model to the fullest, expect more significant tweaks as seen on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7.

In terms of size, Samsung is expected to retain the same super AMOLED Infinity Displays at 5.8″ and 6.2″. The difference between the two models is more than just a bigger screen and battery. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are said to have different hardware underneath. Word has it that the bigger S9+ would get more RAM (6GB) and a dual camera setup that’s similar to the Galaxy Note8. Internal storage remains unchanged with 64GB across the board that’s also expandable via microSD.

For the US, it is likely to run on a Snapdragon 845 processor, while the rest of the world including Malaysia would likely get their latest Exynos 9810 unit.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is still retained and the good news is that the fingerprint sensor would be placed more practically right underneath the camera lens. This makes it easier to unlock your phone via fingerprint without smudging the camera lens. Another interesting addition is AKG tuned stereo speakers, which is one of our most wanted features on a Samsung flagship.

Evan also shared that Samsung is working on another DeX docking station that works while the phone lying down. This would allow your connected phone to work as a touchpad or a virtual keyboard when it’s in DeX mode. — SoyaCincau
