LOS ANGELES, March 31 — Two days on from its first official teaser, a second cinematic introduction to sci-fi action game Destiny 2 has arrived.

Rather than showing gameplay directly, a “Rally the Troops” reveal trailer instead focuses on the contrasting motivations of humanity’s warrior guardians: Commander Zavala (voiced by Lance Reddick, John Wick 2 and The Wire) Cayde-6 (Nathan Fillion, Castle, Firefly) and Ikora Rey (Gina Torres, Westworld, Firefly).

The troops in question are not only those of the Destiny fiction, rallying together against a common enemy, Ghaul, but also the franchise’s legion of fans as it prepares to march on from 2014’s blockbuster debut and the expansions that followed.

A September 8, 2017 release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has been earmarked, with a Windows PC release also confirmed, in line with expectations ever since Destiny franchise plans were revealed during 2012 legal proceedings between publisher Activision and the founders of another of its popular action franchises Call of Duty.

Bungie and Activision are encouraging prospective players to put their money down early and pre-order in return for gaining access to a pre-release beta, whose dates are to be announced at a later date.
