SAN FRANCISCO, March 22 — On March 21, Google published a developers preview of “O”, which will apparently have improved battery life and new “notification channels.’

As of today, developers can begin testing the upcoming “O” version, while regular users will have to wait for its official rollout. While Google doesn’t specify exactly what changes/improvements it has made, the post does emphasise “a big priority on improving a user’s battery life and the device’s interactive performance” by reducing background app behaviour.

Also mentioned is the new “notification channels” feature, which will allow developers more control over different notifications.

The general release date for “O” has not yet been announced, but speculations are that it could occur during the Google I/O (May 17-19, 2017). — AFP-Relaxnews
