KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — Mobile-first social marketplace Shopee Malaysia is collaborating with the leading national courier delivery service, Pos Malaysia, to provide a free shipping service for online entrepreneurs.

In a joint statement with Pos Malaysia today, Shopee said through its free shipping programme, entrepreneurs utilising the Shopee platform would no longer have to bear the shipping cost.

“The programme grants sellers a capped subsidy for delivery of items to Peninsular Malaysia as well as Sabah and Sarawak,” it said.

Regional Managing Director Ian Ho said since the launch of the free shipping programme in May, there has been tremendous growth in the Shopee platform with most of the sellers recording double their previous daily orders.

Currently, it has over 12 million users in the region.

Meanwhile, Pos Malaysia Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the collaboration is a significant milestone for Pos Malaysia to delve further into new business opportunities, especially in the e-Commerce sector.
