MADRID, May 13 — BitTorrent has officially launched its private messaging app Bleep across all major platforms.

Farid Fadaie, senior director of product development at BitTorrent, announced the news via the official BitTorrent blog and confirmed that the application is now available to download on Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac from bleep.pm.

This latest app is particularly focused on privacy and security with users provided with a personalised Bleep key with the encryption keys for images stored on the local device, rather than in a 'cloud'.

For messages and metadata, this means "there is no server for hackers to target", as Fadaie explains in his post.

Brand new for this release is the ability to also send 'whisper messages' with Bleep. This option allows users to choose if they want to keep parts of a conversation just temporarily. When the 'whisper' setting is activated, all messages and pictures that are sent in this mode disappear from devices after they've been viewed for approximately 25 seconds. The setting is also available on PCs and Macs.

Free voice calls are also among the many features of the app. Users can start a Bleep-to-Bleep call with any online contact by tapping the phone icon at the top of your text conversation. Calls are connected directly (no cloud), with end-to-end encryption. — AFP-Relaxnews
