NEW YORK, Sept 28 — An innovative smartphone charging solution with built-in data storage capacity, Bleep was recently introduced on Indiegogo, where it quickly surpassed its initial funding goal of US$20,000 (RM 65,190). The project will continue its campaign on the crowdfunding platform through October 24.

Available in USB (Android) and Lightning (iOS) versions, Bleep is a cable that charges a smartphone while backing up data through a free dedicated app.

Rather than storing data in the cloud, the device saves everything to its built-in memory drive located at the base of the connector. The cable can be plugged into a standard outlet via a USB wall charger, so there is no need for a PC or WiFi connection.

Bleep is available with a storage capacity of between 16GB and 64GB, individually or in packs, on the Indiegogo page. For a contribution of US$40, backers can reserve one of the first 16GB cables and a compatible USB wall charger (add US$10 for shipping outside of the US or Israel). The first orders are estimated to ship in August 2015. — AFP-Relaxnews
