LONDON, March 25 — Twitter has launched a Museum Week hashtag in the UK and across Europe to celebrate and explore behind-the-scenes work that goes on throughout the continent's cultural institutions.

The event kicks off Monday and sees over 300 museums and galleries come together on the social media platform, tweeting throughout the duration of the week.

Each day of the week will be structured around a different theme, with Monday, March 24 with devoted to #DayInTheLife, offering a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes on a typical day at each museum.

For the rest of the week, the institutions will test the public’s general knowledge in #MuseumMastermind, invite tweeters to share their favorite museum anecdotes in #MuseumMemories, take a look at the architecture and history of their buildings in #BehindTheArt and offer the chance to ask questions with #AskTheCurator.

The event will wrap up on Sunday by asking visitors to tweet creative new titles for historic works.

The #MuseumSelfie trend is making a comeback in honor of the event, with no-photography rules being waived in order to allow visitors to snap themselves inside their favorite museum.

Institutions taking part include the British Museum, the British Film Institute, the V&A, the Tate and Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
