LUMUT, Sept 14 — Kedah, Pahang, Sabah and Melaka have completed the list of eight teams to the quarter-finals of the 19th Sukma after chalking up wins against their respective opponents.
Melaka who are runners-up in Group C booked their quarter-final berth despite playing to goalless draw against Penang at Parit Buntar Mini stadium on Tuesday.
At the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium this evening, Pahang blasted Kelantan 6-2 in the last Group D match.
Pahang’s goals in the first half were scored by Muhammad Badrul Amin Jesmi in the 3rd minute, followed by Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim (9’), Mohamad Haikal Hasbul (17’), Mohamad Arisazri Juhari (43’) and Muhammad Nor Amirul Mohd Nizam (44’) while Kelantan netted one via Muhammad Juzaerul Jasmi (16’).
In the second half, Pahang were on target again via Mohamad Arisazri in the 66th minute while Muhammad Juzaerul slotted in Kelantan’s second goal five minutes later.
The win saw Pahang garnered six points to become runners-up in Group D and will meet Group C champions, Sabah in the quarter-finals at 4.15pm at Lumut Stadium this Saturday.
At Lumut Stadium this evening, Kedah beat Selangor 1-0 with a goal by Mohamad Fayadh Mohd Zulkifli Amin in the 85th minute.
Kedah who won all three matches will meet Group C runners-up, Melaka at PMP Stadium at 4.15pm on Saturday.
Meanwhile, at Parit Buntar Mini Stadium, Sabah were tied 1-1 with Penang last night to top Group C.
Both goals were netted in the second half with Sabah’s Ariusdius Jais scoring in the 73rd minute and Penang equalising via Muhammad Azrie Reza Zamri in the dying minutes of the game.
On Wednesday, four teams, namely 2014 and 2016 Sukma champions, Perak, three-time champions Terengganu, Perlis and Federal Territory booked their berths to the quarter-finals.
Perlis, Group A runners-up will meet Group B champions, Terengganu at TLDM Stadium at 8.45pm tomorrow, while Group A champions Perak will face Group B runners-up Federal Territory at MPM Stadium at 8.45pm on the same day. — Bernama
