KOTA BHARU, Feb 25 — The Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) will appoint a new head coach for The Red Warriors (TRW) soon to replace Sathit Bensoh and take the team through the Malaysia League this season.
Kafa president Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan said for now, the association had full faith in the acting head coach Yusri Che Lah to manage the team.
“We are currently looking at several imported coaches,” she told reporters here last night.
Kafa made the drastic decision to drop Sathit Bensoh following the team’s unsatisfactory performance in three previous matches.
Bibi Ramjani said so far, two candidates had been in Kota Bharu recently, namely Fajer Ibrahim from Syria and Darren Stewart from Australia while another from Serbia, Dejan Antonic would arrive soon.
Bibi Ramjani said Yusri’s views on the choice of head coach would be considered for the sake of the team.
“Yusri has told us that he needs someone to help him and share his experiences coaching a team,” he said.
Meanwhile, commenting on Kelantan’s 3 – 2 win over Perak in the Super League game held at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here last night, Yusri said it was the result of the players’ hard work and attitude that gained them three full points on home ground.
He said the players should maintain that standard of playing and improve on their weaknesses in future games.
Kelantan’s had hat-trick goals at the 67th, 76th and 87th minutes by Korean import player Do Dong Hyun while Perak’s Mohd Nor Hakim Hassan and Wander Luiz scored goals at the 21st and 68th minutes.
