LONDON, July 4 — Sebastien Buemi clinched the second Formula E Championship yesterday despite being run off the track on the London ePrix season finale by title rival Lucas di Grassi.

Frenchman Nicolas Prost, Buemi's Renault e.dams team-mate, won the race after the opening-lap drama when Brazilian di Grassi sent himself and Buemi into the barriers, with both cars suffering bad damage.

Both resumed, before Buemi — who started from pole to erase di Grassi's championship lead — pitted to change car.

The Swiss Buemi went on to sign off on the fastest lap of the race — in the process grabbing two bonus points — enough to pip Audi Sport's di Grassi to the title.

Race organisers at the leafy Battersea Park launched an investigation into di Grassi's antics.
