KOTA BARU, April 22 ― Kelantan's coach Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah is satisfied with the performance exhibited by all its imported players.
He said the excellent performance displayed by the imported line-up enabled Kelantan to record a 3-0 win in the second quarter final of the FA Cup against Sime Darby FC at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, here, last night.
“The win was due to the cooperation of three imported strikers, namely, Erwin Carillo, Austin Amutu and Gilmar Da Silva, who are compatible with each other.
“This is the much awaited win. Amutu is satisfactory, what was planned could be implemented and we have a balanced striker line-up,” he told a media conference here, last night.
At the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here, last night, the Kelantan team only managed to break the impasse in the 40th minute via a penalty kick by skipper, Mohd Badhri Radzi after he was fouled by the captain of the visiting team, Ivan Dragicevic.
Nigerian import, Austin Amutu doubled the score for Kelantan in the 58th minute before Erwin Carillo confirmed a semi-final ticket for Kelantan after connecting a pass from Amutu in the 74th minute.
Mohd Azraai Khor said hopefully the first win after taking over from George Boateng could boost the spirit of the team to do better in the Malaysian League especially to improve its position in the Super League.
“We managed a win after five matches, I hope we can maintain the momentum.
“Thank you too to the supporters who never gave up on us, we will work harder to boost the team,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the players had been urged to continue to upgrade the quality of their games and focus on the match against Selangor at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, on Saturday.
“We have to be cautious because Selangor have been playing very well,” he said.
After eight Super League matches this season, Kelantan only netted six goals and are now in 10th place with seven points, after only recording two wins and and one draw. ― Bernama
