MELAKA, Nov 30 —Nineteen players today signed contracts with the FA of Melaka (Mafa) to don the Melaka team jersey in the FAM League next season which kicks of in March.

Five of them had played in the Super League last season namely Rashid Mahmud (Negeri Sembilan); Mohd Saiful Mustapa and Mohd Yusri Abas (T-Team); Mohizam Shah Dawood Shah (Felda United) and Mohd Atif Hanif (Perlis).

Melaka who finished in sixth position in the FAM league last season have also enlisted a new coach, Ladislav Totkovic from Slovakia, formerly the manager of Tatran Presov, the second oldest club in that country.

Totkovic said Melaka had the potential to be promoted to the Premier League.

“Although we are in the third league, I believe with this great players, we can make a good team,” he told reporters after the contract signing ceremony for the players and coach at the Melaka International Trade Centre here.

The ceremony was witnessed by Melaka Chief Minister and Mafa president Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Melaka team manager Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi. — Bernama
