KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 ― Preparations are well and truly underway at Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin’s home for next month’s Aidilfitri celebrations but don’t expect anything fancy.

The new mum, who gave birth to daughter Siti Aafiyah Khalid in March, said she is excited to wear matching outfits with her daughter and will most likely be wearing festive garments from her fashion line Creacion.

“We’re keeping it simple this year but the highlight is of course, Siti Aafiyah,” the singer said last night at a Shopee event.

At home, Siti said her mother Siti Salmah Bachik is keeping busy in the kitchen making “kuih Raya”.

“I don’t have the skills to make kuih so I’ll make ‘kuih tunjuk’,” she said playfully, suggesting she intends to buy them instead.

“Anyone here selling kuih Raya?” she asked, adding that she loves supporting home bakers.

The working mum also serenaded guests with the introduction of Comel Pipi Merah, a lullaby she wrote for her daughter.

Siti made an appearance at the Shopee Celebrity Squad launch, the e-commerce platform’s latest initiative where shoppers can get their hands on a variety of Malaysian celebrity brands.

The Shopee Celebrity Squad features six well-known Malaysian celebs ― Siti, Nora Danish, Izara Aishah, Elfira Loy, Heliza Helmi, and Emma Maembong.

Ranging from fashion to beauty, fans and shoppers alike will be able to purchase Siti’s skincare and cosmetics line SimplySiti, Nora’s traditional Muslim fashion with a twist label Owl, Izara’s lip wear collection Madame Izara, Elfira and Heliza’s modest wear and Emma’s skincare line EMBS, just in time for Raya.

Shopee regional managing director Ian Ho said there is a rising demand for products by celebrities and it remains one of the top searched keywords on the app.

He added that e-commerce platform’s zero-commission policy was a bonus for celebrities to leverage on Shopee’s platform and features.

“We have plans to expand the Shopee Celebrity Squad with new celebrities every month,” said Ho.

Shopee has approximately 10 million users and 400,000 sellers across Southeast Asia and Taiwan.

The popular marketplace recorded a regional gross merchandise value of US$1.9 billion (RM7.6 billion) in the first quarter, a 199.5 per cent increase from US$648.3 million (RM2.6 billion) in the first quarter of 2017.

In conjunction with Raya, users can take part in the Shopee Cahaya Raya campaign from now until June 17 and stand a chance to win a ‘Rumah Impian’ (dream house) worth RM350,000, a Honda HRV worth RM100,000, a Volkswagen Polo worth RM80,000 and many more.

The free-to-download app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
