LOS ANGELES, Jan 12 — The highly-anticipated Deadpool sequel just got bumped up by two weeks and it is now scheduled for release on May 18 instead of June 1.

This means Deadpool 2 will now be facing some stiff competition as Screen Gems’ horror film Slender Man also opens on the same day and Solo: A Star Wars Story will open the following week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, other shuffles at 20th Century Fox include The New Mutants and Gambit. The horror-inspired X-Men film has been pushed back quite a bit from April 13, 2018 to February 22nd, 2019. Similarly, the studio has also delayed the release date for Gambit from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.

Following the announcement of the reschedule, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to share a new photo from the set that features Deadpool suited up and ready to go with his signature swords that pay homage Golden Girls star Bea Arthur.
