LOS ANGELES, March 12 — First it was Beauty and the Beast and now it’s The Little Mermaid. A new live-action version of The Little Mermaid will hit cinemas later this year, but it’s not your typical fairy tale from Disney. A trailer for the film by Conglomerate Media and Kingsway Productions recently released is breathtaking and is buzzing on the internet.
This new film is based more on the original Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale rather than Disney’s Ariel version which we are more accustomed to.
The story follows a young girl (Loreto Peralta) who discovers and beautiful woman in a circus who claims to be a real mermaid (Poppy Drayton).
The girl’s older brother (William Moseley) is a reporter sent to uncover the truth about the supposed mermaid.
Veteran actress Shirley MacLaine also features prominently in the trailer as a mysterious woman who has intimate knowledge of the mermaid’s story.
We look forward to this live-action movie coming out in a few months.
