LOS ANGELES, Sept 22 — ABC’s legal thriller takes viewers into a world of criminal justice, politics and media, promising plenty of twists as cases unfold. The series follows a team investigating wrongful convictions, headed by a female lawyer living life in the spotlight due to her father's previous occupation.

What's the story?

The series follows Hayes Morrison, a lawyer and daughter of a former US president. 

After being arrested for possession of illegal drugs, she avoids prison by accepting an intriguing mission heading LA’s new Conviction Integrity Unit.

Here, she and her team reexamine problem cases involving suspects who may have been wrongfully convicted.

Hayley Atwell takes the lead in this new drama.

Fans of the Marvel universe will recognise her as Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron

In 2015, the British actress landed her own series on ABC, Agent Carter, which ended in March after two seasons. 

The actress will be joined by Eddie Cahill, who first found fame in the noughties as Tag Jones in Friends, before moving on to roles in CSI: NY and Under the Dome.

When does it air?

Conviction premieres Monday, October 3 on ABC, taking over the slot previously occupied by Castle. — AFP-Relaxnews
