NEW YORK, Jan 22 — Synthpop icons Pet Shop Boys yesterday announced a new album and, in the duo’s tradition of one-word titles, called it Super.

The English duo’s 13th studio album will come out on April 1 and be followed in July by a four-date residency at the Royal Opera House in London.

The group announced a tracklist, including a first song entitled The Pop Kids, and said the album was produced by Stuart Price, the electronic artist who produced Pet Shop Boys’ last album, 2013’s Electric.

Price is best known for his work with Madonna, including supervising her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor in which the pop superstar embraced both classic disco and contemporary club music.

Formed in 1981 by singer Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe, Pet Shop Boys have won a loyal fan base with highly literate and occasionally melancholy electronic tracks.

Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 50 million albums and scored a string of hits including West End Girls and It’s a Sin. — AFP-Relaxnews
