MUNICH, July 2 — British actor Rupert Everett has been awarded the CineMerit Award for outstanding contribution to cinema at the Munich Film Festival.

He joins director Jean-Jacques Annaud, who was also presented the award earlier this week at the festival, Variety reports.

Everett is currently preparing for the release of his latest movie, "A Royal Night Out," which tells the tale of the princesses Elizabeth and Margaret being allowed to explore London anonymously for one night in 1945 while Britain celebrates the end of World War II. Everett plays King George VI, the father of the future Queen Elizabeth II. — AFP-Relaxnews
