KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s net profit for the first quarter (Q1) ended March 31, 2018 increased to RM45.48 million from RM40.05 million in the same quarter last year.

Revenue increased six per cent to RM822.9 million from RM779.2 million previously.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, KPJ Healthcare said the continuing operations segment in Malaysia excelled with a revenue of RM797.3 million, an increase of six per cent from RM750.4 million in the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

“The higher revenue for the current quarter was mainly contributed by the increase in number of patient episodes and complex cases per inpatient, particularly for KPJ Rawang, with the number of beds increased 45 per cent to 128 beds compared with the same quarter in 2017,” it said.

On prospects, the company said as the number of outpatient and inpatient continued to grow from 3.6 per cent to 5.3 per cent, this would support the group's growth strategies that were already in place.
