The international trade and industry minister said the agreement that arose from the abortive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement was in Malaysia’s best interests.

“This is a big trade-deal, the biggest in the recent years. It wasn’t rush matter as we went through the detailing of negotiations,” he said during the “MITI Day 2018”.

The CPTPP is a minor renegotiation of the TPPA after the latter collapsed due to US President Donald Trump’s decision to remove his country from the deal that was initiated by his predecessor, Barack Obama.
