KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — Nestle (M) Bhd’s pre-tax profit surged to RM165.76 million in the fourth quarter ending December 31, 2017, from RM81.49 million in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue also increased to RM1.28 billion from RM1.24 billion previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

Nestle attributed its improved performance to sustainable cost management and different phasing of its marketing investments in 2017.

“The growth momentum was supported by domestic sales which grew by 4.5 per cent, driven by continuous innovation and renovation initiatives, as well as, successful marketing and trade promotions,” it said.

On prospects, Nestle said it would continue to strive for efficiency throughout its supply chain, innovate its portfolio and intensify trade and consumer promotions for sustainable growth. — Bernama
