KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were marginally lower in early trade today, dealers said.

At 9.25am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.04 points easier at 1,580.81 after opening 1.35 points better at 1,584.20.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers by 179 to 150 while 162 counters were unchanged, 1,322 untraded and 18 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 272.29 million shares worth RM97.25 million.

The FBM Emas Index fell 20.13 points to 10,821.48, FBMT100 Index eased 21.42 points to 10,559.75 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 14.07 points to 11,351.99.

The FBM 70 fell 52.43 points to 11,527.80. The FBM Ace gained 12.58 points to 5,177.37.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index fell 24.67 points to 13,872.44 and the Plantation declined Index trimmed 43.92 points to 6,755.26.

The Industrial Index added 0.9 point to 3,039.45.

Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped one sen to RM8.37 and Public Bank fell two sen to RM17.76.

TNB gained two sen to RM11.02 and Axiata rose three sen to RM5.89.

The actively-traded stocks this morning included Media Shoppe, IFCA MSC, Iris, Tiger Synergy and JAG. — Bernama
