KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 — Maxis Bhd’s service revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2014 rose to RM2.09 billion from RM2.05 billion in the same period last year.

In a statement today, the communications service provider said it made great strides last year to transition from a traditional voice-oriented telecommunications company to a digital enabler.

Meanwhile, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Maxis said its pre-tax profit for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2014 rose to RM502 million from RM428 million in the same quarter last year.

Revenue, however, declined to RM2.12 billion from RM2.22 billion previously.

For the full year, the pre-tax profit fell to RM2.44 billion from RM2.5 billion previously. Revenue declined to RM8.39 billion from RM9.08 billion previously.

Chief executive officer, Morten Lundal, said for the fourth quarter, the company’s new prepaid customers spiked to over half a million.

“We have also improved and modernised our network, which now is indisputably the best in Malaysia.

“With our improved network as well as the proactive measures we have taken to give customers a worry-free experience, our customer complaints have been reduced by half compared to 2013,” he said.

Going forward, Lundal said, Maxis has positive momentum and was well-positioned to offer the best data network and an unmatched customer experience. — Bernama
