KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 — Malaysia's state oil firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has awarded a RM10 billion four-package, three-year transportation and installation (T&I) contract to three local offshore installation contractors (OICs).

In a statement today, it said it awarded the Pan Malaysia Integrated Offshore Installation Contract for years 2014–2016 to TL Offshore Sdn Bhd, PBJV Sdn Bhd and GOM Resources Sdn Bhd.

The contract, a competitive tender open to both local and international companies, not only involved the T&I for offshore facilities but also included all the necessary services such as marine spread services, required tools, specialised equipment and manpower services.

The three OICs will provide T&I services to 11 Petronas production sharing contractors (PSCs), including Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Shell Bhd & Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc, Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd, Hess Oil and Gas Sdn Bhd, and Talisman (M) Ltd.

Vice President of Petroleum Management Ramlan Abdul Malek was quoted in the statement as saying that the driving strategy for this contract was a different approach to ensure maximum local participation while maintaining high competitiveness and upholding international standards.

“The contract is part of Petronas’ continuing efforts to further optimise its project deliveries and offshore activities in terms of safety, costs and schedule,” he added. — Bernama
