IPOH, Aug 3 ― A 17-year-old girl who allegedly removed her red-colour home quarantine wristband to visit her friend in Kamunting, Taiping was fined RM5,000.
Taiping police district chief ACP Osman Mamat said that police managed to traced the girl via a 30-second clip on TikTok, which was then circulated on social media.
“In the video the girl was suspected of removing her quarantine wristband without the permission from the Health Ministry in order to go out to public place.
“The girl was fined under Regulation 16 (P.U. (A) 293/2021), which is punishable under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas)(National Recovery Plan) 2021,” he said in a statement today.
Osman said the girl disobeyed the instructions of the Health director-general, failing to adhere to supervision and observation order at the registered address.
“She also committed the offence of removing the supervision and observation wristband which was given by the Health Ministry without the written permission of the officer in authority,” he said.
He said the girl was fined RM5,000 based on the magnitude of the offence (category 1: No 1) which was issued to the girl as provided in the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Security Council.
He added that girl had undergone Covid-19 swab test on July 31.
However, he said that the result of the test is yet to be obtained.
Osman also said the girl went to her friend’s house in Kamunting and did not go anywhere else.
