MANJUNG, June 2 ― The shooting of a 66-year-old man by another senior citizen who then shot himself near a restaurant in Kampung Koh last night was believed to have been over a debt.

In the incident, Chu Phan Hoo, 62, was found dead after shooting himself inside a Toyota Fortuner that was parked beside a shopping block at Simpang Dua, about 10 kilometres from the location where he had shot Ling Iu King, who was also his friend.

Ling died while being sent to Seri Manjung Hospital.

Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Yahya Abd Rahman said the suspect and alleged victim had been drinking together and believed to be intoxicated when a quarrel erupted between them around 11 pm.

“Both victim and suspect possessed firearm licence. Further investigation is being conducted, under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said. ― Bernama
