KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz said today the elevator replacements in all Lembah Pantai People’s Public Housing (PPR) flats will possibly be done by 2019.

Mhd Amin, who attended a buka puasa event at Lembah Pantai today, told reporters that it is “definitely possible” to replace broken lifts with new ones but stressed that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) budget needs to be reviewed first.

“It is a good idea but tomorrow we need to review the City Hall’s budget first. If this year’s allocation is sufficient, we can work on it immediately but if not, we will push it to the very next year,” he told reporters at Pantai Eco Park Community Centre here.

The mayor is slated to meet all 11 Kuala Lumpur MPs tomorrow, including Putrajaya MP Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor, in a meeting at the City Hall headquarters.

He said the main objective of the meeting is to formally introduce all MPs to DBKL’s board of executive directors and brief the elected representatives on its annual budget.

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil told Malay Mail earlier that he would bring up the issue of the PPR elevators tomorrow.

“I will be meeting all 11 MPs tomorrow. I have met a number of them separately but we thought it would be good if everyone can meet at the same time so formal introduction to all City Hall directors can be done.

“We will also be briefing all the MPs on our budget so we can review it together,” he said.

Mhd Amin said DBKL is willing to offer its support as a “machinery” to ensure that all Kuala Lumpur MPs can best serve their constituents.

“We want all the MPs to know that City Hall is ready to offer all our help so that they can do a better job. We will act as a machinery for them,” he said.
