KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — MIC Youth urged the authorities and public to treat former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak fairly, saying he and Barisan Nasional have already been pummelled at the ballot box.

Its chief, Datuk C. Sivarrajh, said BN’s general election defeat was already sufficient punishment, and urged Malaysians not to “overdo” their criticism and mockery of Najib and the coalition.

"I feel the punishment has already been given in the 14th general election. The people have already punished the leader and BN, but let's not overdo it.

"The investigation, as usual, is the government’s right. At the same time, I request to the agencies to treat the ex-leader (Najib) fairly, and I want to call out social media practitioners to not play up issues too aggressively, till it humiliates others," he added.

Sivarrajh pointed to pictures of handbags and cash posted online and linked to Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, which later turned out to be fake.

Sivarrajh said that Najib remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Najib is under a multi-agency investigation for money laundering related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
