KUALA TERENGGANU, May 19 — Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said he respected Datuk Seri Jailani Johari’s decision to resign as Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman.

Razif, who is Seberang Takir assemblyman, said the decision was Jailani right  and that there was no  compulsion for him to do so (Jailani was the Barisan Nasional’s incumbent MP for Hulu Terenganu but was not fielded as a candidate for any seat in the 14th general election on May 9)

On Jailani urging that he also resign, Razif said it was also the former Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister’s  right to comment on Barisan Nasional’s (BN) defeat in the 14th general election (GE14) but he decided not to do so right now.

“Terengganu BN is doing a post-mortem on the matter and it will surely reach a consensus soon.

“But at this time, resigning from the responsibility of restoring the party in a hurry is not an appropriate act especially when all quarters are having a hard time and must be together to take responsibility as there are still people who support and choose BN,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.
