KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Amid jaw-dropping revelations of the array of luxury items and cold, hard cash seized from his home, ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak showed no signs of deviating from his regular routine today.
He headed out in a white Toyota Vellfire for the obligatory Muslim Friday prayers at a mosque near the Putra World Trade Centre, under police escort at about 12.50pm.
Najib was seen in a plain lavender baju Melayu paired with dark slacks and a black songkok at the mosque. He was also seen greeting members of the congregation there, which included his former deputy Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is now acting Umno president.
Najib returned home at 3pm just in time to beat the thunderstorm that broke shortly after.
Despite the weather, the police, who have been keeping a constant surveillance outside the cordon on Jalan Langgak Duta here since the first raid on Wednesday, remained on guard.
Malay Mail spotted three officers at the entrance and five police cars parked nearby.
Najib is under investigation for suspected money laundering over his brainchild, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Malay Mail earlier sighted a police report listing 52 luxury handbags, watches and cash in various denominations, including British pound sterling and Sri Lankan rupees, from the first night’s raid on the house here.
