KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir thanked Malaysians who urged her to advise Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to rest, but said the latter felt he still has much to accomplish.

Malaysians on social media have repeatedly expressed concern over the health of the 92-year-old prime minister, who has maintained a gruelling schedule since campaigning for the 14th general election.

She assured the public that Dr Mahathir appeared fine and relaxed when she met him for dinner last night.

“Dear everyone, thank you for the many many kind messages asking me to tell Dad to rest. I just saw him for dinner and conveyed all your concerns. He appreciates them very much and will do his best to pace himself.

“But he did say there’s so much work to do to build a new government so he hopes you will understand,” she wrote on Facebook.

Dr Mahathir led Pakatan Harapan to defeat Barisan Nasional in the May 9 general election and has continued working since.
