KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — Former Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi has urged police investigating former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak not to be heavy handed.

In a post on Facebook, he also reminded the agency that today was the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

“I pray that the police does not become overzealous to suck up to the new regime as human rights ought to be respected at all time,” he wrote.

A special police task force investigating 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) raided Najib’s private mansion and five other locations yesterday, spending over six hours at the first property.
