ALOR SETAR, May 16 — Former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has resigned as president of the Football Association of Kedah (KFA), effective yesterday.

KFA deputy president Datuk Paduka Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah said KFA executive committee members today met with Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir to discuss the vacancy.

“During the special KFA Executive Committee Meeting yesterday, we received a letter of resignation from Ahmad Bashah, and today, we received a letter of resignation from KFA’s honorary secretary, Datuk Aminuddin Omar and treasurer, Datuk Yusof Ismail.

“We have met the mentri besar to suggest that he take over as the new KFA president, and he (Mukhriz) also enquired about the finances, progress and position of the team,” he told reporters when met at Wisma Darul Aman here, today. — Bernama
