KLANG, May 7 — Charles Santiago, DAP’s candidate for Klang, alleged today that the 1,029 voters in the Selangor parliamentary seat are registered to live in non-existent addresses.

He said most of the affected addresses were located in the Port Klang state constituency.

“Some of these addresses do not exist or in some houses, it says there are over 20 people registered there which makes no sense because those houses are very small to house that many people.

“I therefore urge all of you to come out and vote on May 9 because Port Klang is a marginal seat and if you don’t come out, this seat will be decided by these phantom voters,” the two-term Klang MP since Election 2004 said.

Charles said he had raised a similar issue in GE13, which he said involved 994 cases.

He claimed the issue remains unresolved five years on.

“These are just some examples of suspected manipulation and cheating in the voter roll in Klang.

“The Election Commission must bear full responsibility to overcome these unfair tactics,” he said.
