KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — Police have detained a leading actress after she was found to be in possession of 53 Erimin 5 pills in her handbag.

A police source said the pills were discovered after the 26-year-old woman was taken to the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station here about 12.30pm yesterday.

“Prior to the discovery of the drugs, the actress’ Range Roger sports utility vehicle (SUV) had been involved in an accident with another SUV, a Honda BRV, in Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi here about 11.45am.

“Soon after the accident, a team of police on patrol duty was rushed to the scene and found the woman to be behaving in a suspicious manner. She was then taken to the police station for further checks,” the source said.

The source also said checks on the woman’s belongings led to the discovery of the pills weighing about 14.74g in the handbag but she tested negative for drug consumption.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest, saying that the woman was being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession. — Bernama
