KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — Malaysia’s naval force were today told they have the freedom to vote according to their conscience as their choice is confidential.

Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin took to the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Facebook page to assure seamen and their families that their votes are secret.

“We are free to make our own choices in voting. Don’t be influenced by any incitement that can affect our choices. Use your own wisdom based on facts, observation, achievements and experiences,” he said in the post.

He reminded them that they were professionals in service to king and country and advised them not to get involved in any partisan political activity.

He also advised Navy personnel to check their voting status, voting stations and channels as well as that of their family members, and to cast their ballot early and according to procedure.

“Know this, our vote is SECRET,” he added, before signing off as “Your PTL.”
