GEMAS, May 2 — A new mosque, costing RM10 million, will be built in Gemas to also serve as a community centre for local residents, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said the mosque, contributed by philanthropist Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, could accommodate 1,000 people at one time.

“The state government has also reserved a 4.04-hectare site for the mosque to accommodate future expansion,” he said at the ground-breaking of the mosque and handing over land titles for Bukit Jelai Felcra settlers here today.

Construction of the mosque starts today and takes 18 months to complete.
