SEREMBAN, April 22 — About 100 Barisan Nasional flags put up at the entrance of Mambau New Village and around the town of Mambau, here were allegedly torn down and set on fire by irresponsible parties.

State MCA information chief Dafney Ho said the party regretted the incident, which occurred for the first time in Mambau state constituency.

She said the flags which were installed three days ago at about cost of RM300 were found removed and razed this morning.

“This is an unhealthy competition... strangely why are only BN flags missing, flags of others were untouched. If we have made any mistakes, let us know, do not resort to this tactic (remove and burn),” she said at a media conference here today.

Following that, a police report was lodge at Mambau police station here for an investigation to be carried out and for action to be quickly taken against the individuals involved.

In this regard, she said BN would be setting up closed-circuit television (CCTV) at suitable locations to ensure the same incident did not recur.

“We will install CCTV to prevent such incidents apart from ensuring the safety of our machinery personnel on the ground in conjunction with the 14th general election,” she said. — Bernama
