PETALING JAYA, April 16 ― Epic Fit Meals Co has joined the food giveaway bandwagon by offering free burgers to any Malaysian who votes in the 14th general election.

Voters simply have to show the election ink applied before voting to get a halal-certified burger worth RM16.85.

They will also have the choice of four burgers: Chicky Chummy, Fish Chummy, Beefy Chummy and Peri Chummy.

Founder Lai Wick Kee, 29, said the campaign is to encourage all eligible voters to exercise their democratic right.

“I realised a lot of people around me are not interested in voting. So, I thought to myself, what better way to encourage them than free burgers?.

“It’s the least I can do, and I hope other Malaysians out there can encourage others to vote in their own way,” said the 29-year-old Kelantan native.

The Epic Fit Meals offer is valid at its three stores in Damansara Perdana, Bandar Sunway and Mont Kiara, from 11am to 10.30pm.

Each voter is entitled to one burger while stocks last.

“People will be voting from morning to evening. So I wanted to provide a promotion based on their flexibility,” Lai said, before adding that he will institute safeguards against abusers.

Yesterday, noodle chain Meet Mee said it would serve free bowls of pan mee at three of its branches in Desa Setapak, Danau Kota and Sungai Long to voters on election day.

Klang’s Eng Chun Bak Kut Teh is offering 500 sets of bak kut teh with rice worth RM5,500 in total at two of its outlets in Taman Berkeley and Taman Sentosa, Klang.
