PETALING JAYA, April 13 — HSS Engineers Bhd’s associate, HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI) has won a contract worth RM289.9 million to be the independent consultant engineer for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Line 3 (MRT3) Circle Line project.

The new contract would raise HSS’ unbilled order book to RM962.5 million, according to The Star.

The HSS engineering and project management group said in a statement that HSSI had accepted a letter of appointment from Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) to be the consultant engineer for the MRT3 project.

HSSI’s works for the MRT3 project had started since March 6 this year.

“The works are expected to be completed in 2026, hence anticipated to contribute positively to the group’s performance for the financial years ending Dec 31, 2018 to 2026,” HSS said.

The group also said HSSI’s current role as consultant for the MRT2 Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line could be completed in the second-quarter of 2022.

Previously, HSSI, in joint venture with SNC-Lavalin (M) Sdn Bhd, also assumed the independent consultant role for the MRT1 Sungai Buloh-Kajang line, with works completed in the third quarter of 2017.

The consulting contract for the MRT3 project came in shortly after the completion of HSS group’s acquisition of SMHB Engineering Sdn Bhd, an engineering and project management consultancy firm specialising in the water industry, on March 28, 2018.
