KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Bandar Tun Razak Umno division head Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar said today he looks forward to his political career, after it was almost derailed by a false positive urine drug test.
In a statement today, he also thanked the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“I want to thank PDRM and MACC (for their work) throughout the investigation period,” he said.
“My focus now is to continue my political services and help Barisan Nasional (BN) in Bandar Tun Razak in the 14th general election.
“I also want to thank all my family members and friends who gave me moral support,” he added.
Earlier today, the Kuala Lumpur police confirmed that Rizalman’s second urine test result came out negative, despite contrary initial result.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the sample was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s forensic pathology department for a second test, after Rizalman tested positive with the police.
The police also confirmed that there will be no further action against Rizalman.
Earlier this week, Rizalman claimed he was entrapped by political rivals, following his arrest at an entertainment outlet here on Monday.
At a press conference where he confirmed he was the Umno leader reportedly arrested during the raid, he suggested the incident may have stemmed from those seeking to derail his possible selection for the 14th general election.
He said he went to the entertainment centre for normal leisure activities and assumed the outlet was licensed as it has been open for almost a decade.
Rizalman, who was speculated to contest a parliamentary seat in the upcoming polls, said he would use all legal channels to clear his name and it was unfair for the public to prejudge him as he was innocent until proven guilty.
