KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia confirmed receiving proclamation for the dissolution of the 13th Parliament from the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V today.

He added that the proclamation was in accordance with Article 55 (2) of the Federal Constitution.

“With this declaration, the six sessions of the 13th Parliament have lasted for a period of four years and 10 months,” he said in a media statement.

Pandikar said the next course of action is now in the hands of the Election Commission (EC).

The 13th Parliament, which adjourned sine die yesterday, has been one of the longest in Malaysian history.

It lasted 78 days and would have automatically dissolved on June 24, if today’s announcement had not been made.
