KUCHING, Feb 14 — The Chinese community has been playing its role in the development of country through hard work and cooperation with the other races coupled with good policy guidance from the government.
The Yang Dipertua of Sarawak, Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud said the community has been able to harness the various economic activities in the country with the other races to prosper the country.
“The people have been able to enjoy the fruits of hard work and the success of each community, through their well organised and successful commercial endeavours. The Chinese, for example, has been able to bring to Sarawak in a wide spectrum of business ventures,” he said.
“As we can see, Sarawak has a more orderly distribution of employment opportunities and closer relationship among all the races,” he said in his Chinese New Year message here today.
Taib said the trend towards a more prosperous society, would not only benefit the commercial sector but all levels of the society as Sarawak moved forward to become a developed state and its aspiration as the richest state in the country by 2030.
“Undoubtedly, Malaysia as whole will enjoy the fruits of the people’s contribution which will in turn bring about employment opportunities for the younger generation,” he said.
He pointed out that during the Chinese New Year, whenever he was given an opportunity to talk to the rakyat, he will always speak of the successes of all races including the Chinese as they understand the agenda to become a developed state by the year 2030.
“Undoubtedly, we have put the country on a proper footing in economic development as well as the transformation of development involved all races. Happy New Year to all my Chinese friends and also my non-Chinese friends, who celebrate it almost the same way as the Chinese in the Sarawak way,” he added. — Bernama
