KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — In an effort to increase transparency in its campaign funds, DAP has launched a crowdfunding campaign platform called “Our Campaigns” allowing supporters to choose the campaign they want to support.

The party’s National Assistant Publicity Secretary Yeo Bee Yin told a press conference that currently there are six campaigns for the public to choose from but more will be made available as the 14th General Election looms near.

“We just launched the platform. So these six are new campaigns but there will be more running up to the election and during the election,” Yeo said.

Among the six campaigns are: “Kick Out Liow Tiong Lai from Bentong!”, “Unseat Chua Tee Yong in Labis”, and “Unlock Wee Ka Siong’s Ayer Hitam Fortress”.

Each campaign has its own crowdfunding target with the highest goal at RM100,000 for the Liow, Chua, and Wee campaigns.

Currently the Liow campaign has raised RM50 (0.05 per cent), 1MDB — RM1 (0 per cent), the Wee campaign has raised RM50 (0.05 per cent) and RM12 for the Ubah anthem campaign (0.03 per cent).

“Once we reach our targeted amount we will take the campaign offline unless we need more money, then we will launch phase two. Members of the public can look at the progress in the respective branch leaders or representatives on Facebook,” Yeo explained.

At the same time, DAP also launched its Ubah Online Store where members of the public can purchase DAP-related merchandise over the internet.

Among the items available includes the Ubah Bird soft toy, Rocket Newspaper subscription, books, pillows and other paraphernalia.

Both the crowdfunding platform and the Ubah Online Store operate like other online shopping platforms such as Lazada.
