ROMPIN, Feb 1 — Four individuals including a businessman had a frightening moment when the light aircraft they were on skidded while attempting to land at the Tekek Airport in Tioman Island yesterday.

Rompin police chief DSP Azli Mohd Noor said in the 1 pm incident, Datuk Anuar Hassan, 48, and his wife, Datin Siti Norlaila Abu Bakar, 46, sustained injuries when the pilot lost control of the aircraft due to a crosswind gusting and hit the fence before stopping at a grassy embankment at the side of the runway.

Also injured were Anuar’s personal assistant, Muhammad Abdul A’lim Salleh, 28, and the pilot, Wan Mohd Faizul Rizal, 35.

“Initial investigation revealed that the Cirrus 9M-ZWR aircraft which was owned by Anuar had departed from the Senai Airport, in Johor, and was headed to the island to attend a business meeting,” he said when contacted here today. — Bernama
