ALOR SETAR, Jan 29 — Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy director (operations) Datuk Zainal Abidin Kasim has been appointed as the new Kedah Police chief effective today.

He takes over from Datuk Asri Yusoff who will be the director of the Federal Police Integrity and Standard Compliance Department. 

The handover of duty took place at Dewan Tan Sri Khalid of the Kedah Police headquarters and was witnessed by Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah. 

Zainal Abidin, 57, who hails from Ulu Kinta, Perak, joined the Royal Malaysia Police on Feb 2, 1986, as an assistant superintendent and underwent training at the Police Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
